"Engagement"
2004
paper, Xerox copy on archival paper, methyl cellulose paste, archival tape,
paperclay ,semi-transparent acrylic box, vinyl sheet
installation, variable dimensions
installation view at the Gallery Jin, Tokyo
Each sculpture
(skull, girl's feet, baby head, house, chair, animal jaw, butterfly) is in
a semi-transparent box. The closer the viewer looks the harder it is to see
the contents.
The artist believes that while an action like engagement brings about a concrete
relationship we never actually connect or even perceive the "real"
world through such action.
